Reviewing Effectiveness Estimates for BMPs in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed
The EPA Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) relies on watershed models to achieve nutrient and sediment reduction goals. These models help managers track allocations, caps, and loads, and ultimately feed into the development of policies, regulations, and programs, but their effectiveness is limited to the quality of the input. To incorporate inputs that more accurately reflect average operational conditions represented across the Chesapeake Bay watershed, the MAWP led the CBP’s efforts to review and refine the definitions of and effectiveness estimates for traditional and innovative best management practices (BMPs).
